Kirkintilloch schools to close amidst severe storm warnings
All Kirkintilloch schools will be closed to pupils today (Thursday, December 8) due to the impact of severe weather.
The decision has been made by East Dunbartonshire Council following Scottish Government advice.
The Met Office has issued a red alert warning of wind, with severe storm-force winds and heavy rain expected to batter the area.
There is even the possibility of snow tomorrow, with a yellow alert warning.
Day care centres in East Dunbartonshire are to close by 12pm and transport is currently being put in place for customers of the centres.
Leisure facilities and libraries will also close by midday.
For home care services, local risk assessments are being carried out to determine needs of vulnerable home care customers.
The Winter Maintenance team will be prepared and ready to attend to emergency situations on the roads, such as fallen trees.
