Make a splash in Kirkintilloch with UK’s biggest swimming campaign

Swimmers in Kirkintilloch will be making a big splash when their pool becomes part of the nation’s biggest ever swimming campaign throughout 2012
Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre has joined forces with British Swimming and the BBC to deliver the Big Splash and inspire the nation to swim.
Specifically, the pool will be offering a number of exciting Big Splash activities and challenges including:
- Swimathon
- Aquazumba
- Family fun Sessions
- Learn to Swim lessons
- Swimfit Programme
The Big Splash will be featured on BBC Television, Radio and Online on a number of high profile programmes.
Double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington is supporting the campaign. She said: “Swimming is my life but just getting in the pool a couple of times a week is a really great way of getting active and staying healthy. I’m right behind anything that encourages people to take the plunge and swim more often.”
Chairwoman of East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, Councillor Amanda Stewart said that the event was a really exciting opportunity for the area, especially for those who wish to learn to swim or to get back into swimming as a means of keeping fit.
She added: “The wide range of activities on offer is designed to suit all ages and stages and will hopefully encourage more people to take the plunge and come along to our pools.”
