A new Lidl store with over 100 parking spaces is to be built at the site of the former bus depot in Kirkintilloch.
Lidl UK has been granted planning consent for the creation of a Class 1 retail unit with access, parking and associated works on Milton Road.
The application is for the approval of matters specified in conditions and the new retail unit will be located towards the western part of the former bus depot.
It is proposed that entry to the site will be from Milton Road at a single access point approximately 110 metres north of the Glasgow Road/ Milton Road junction and that the parking area in front of the retail unit will contain 103 parking spaces.
Speaking about the approval of the application, vice convenor of planning, Councillor John Dempsey, said: “The old bus depot site has been lying vacant for some time so it’s great to hear that the area will be revived with the construction of a new Lidl store.
“It will be a welcomed additional amenity for the local community.”
On completion, it is anticipated the retail unit will have a net trading floor area of 1,063sqm and customers will enter and exit at the south-east corner of the building, while the service and delivery area will be on the western and northern side of the building.
